Repairs to substandard lighting conversions
It is so important to rewire your vehicle's lights for the UK properly. If a lighting conversion is not done properly strange problems can develop - frequently blowing bulbs, indicators staying on or not not working, cruise control not working or even worse getting stuck on or overheating of some wiring or a 'hot' smell in the boot near the rear lights. This list is not exhaustive and may or may not occur in all cases. Many faults may not become apparent for over a year from new after the conversion. This is because the electronic control module fitted to some cars that control the lighting overheats each time you switch your indicators on or press the brake pedal. Each time this happens the module becomes 'weaker' and it eventually fails. These modules can be in excess of £500 to replace, so its vital to do the job properly in the first place. Sometimes the wiring used is not of a suitable current rating and this also overheats. If you have been unfortunate enough to be a victim of this problem we are here to help.
We have had several 2005 Mustangs booked into us lately with severe wiring defects with reference to lighting conversions carried out incompetently. We now conduct a full technical inspection of every faulty vehicle that arrives for repair and provide a report with photographs. This is useful for claiming for defective workmanship. One particular Mustang came to us and the car's Smart Junction Box (SJB) which controls the lights had failed, due to a substandard conversion. In fact the whole job was so bad that all of the aftermarket wiring was removed and a brand new installation made. We will probably see many more now, as all of these cars are now about a year old. Our repair includes the fitment of our own lighting control module which works together with the car's original units for a safe and long lasting solution.
Give us a call to discuss your problems and we will advise and get your vehicle back to state it deserves to be in!
